What is Diabetic retinopathy ?

Diabetic retinopathy is a serious eye condition that can cause vision loss in people with diabetes. It's caused by high blood sugar levels damaging the blood vessels in the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye. 

Symptoms

Early symptoms of diabetic retinopathy may be subtle or even absent, but as the condition progresses, you may experience:

  • Blurred vision or distorted vision
  • Seeing floaters or dark spots 
  • Difficulty seeing at night 
  • Difficulty distinguishing colors
  • Fluctuations in vision clarity
  • Vision loss
